Amorphophallus Taurostigma x Am. Ankarana

This large growing hybrid of two Madagascan species is spectacular in both leaf and bloom. The plant produces a graceful, umbrella-shaped leaf growing to about 1.8 metres high. The petiole of the large leaf is beautifully coloured in pink to grey shades with heavy dark spotting. The leaf remains above ground through spring and into Autumn when it dies back to the tuber. The leaf will re-emerge in the Spring.

When the tuber is large enough, it will produce the amazing bloom pictured. It is overall burgundy in colour with a rich burgundy spadix. This hybrid develops huge tubers of over 8kg, and is very robust in cultivation.

Some species of Amorphophallus have offsets attached to it. In nature these detach to grow new plants. The offsets may detach or break in the mail, this is normal. Plant them in spring to grow new plants!
