A medium to large growing species producing a graceful, umbrella-shaped leaf growing to about 1.4m – 1.8m high. The leaf remains above ground through spring and into Autumn when it dies back to the tuber. The leaf will re-emerge the following Spring. The leaf stem is quite variable in its pattern , more commonly the petiole features light coloured spots on a dark background but this may range through to almost metallic coppery coloured patterns.
The bloom is beautiful, featuring a burgundy coloured spathe with an elegant undulating edge. A native o the Philippines, this beautiful species is quite hardy in cultivation.
Am. rostratus produces elongated tubers that can reach over 45cm long, a deep pot is essential, or 100mm PVC waterpipe may be used as an alternative to a pot.

Some species of Amorphophallus have offsets attached to it. In nature these detach to grow new plants. The offsets may detach or break in the mail, this is normal. Plant them in spring to grow new plants!
